The waste electrical and Electronic equipment regulations 2006 (WEEE regulations) came into effect in the United Kingdom on 1st July 2007. Electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) is any product that relies on electricity, batteries 9or electro magnetic fields) to perform its primary function, eg: a kettle, television, or mobile phone.
WEEE is one of the fastest growing waste streams in the UK. These regulations have been designed to reduce the amount of WEEE by promoting its reuse, recycling and recovery. This helps save energy and resources and avoids hazardous materials from going to landfill which could contaminate the environment and are hazardous to health.
Products which are covered by the WEEE Regulations have a crossed out wheeled bin symbol (with a thick line underneath) on either the product, the packaging or the instructions/warranty. This symbol aims to identify WEEE and encourage you to dispose of it separately from normal household waste.
In order to comply with the Regulations, whenever you buy a new product from us we will recycle it for you for free. This will be done on a like for like basis. If we are delivering a large appliance to your home, for a small collection charge we can remove your old appliance.
We are working with a UK network of recycling specialists who will carry out the reuse, recycling and recovery of your old appliances.
